Incredibly handy, especially for fishermen.

5.0 out of 5.0 by noc on November 25, 2015
These are incredibly handy pocket knives, especially for fishermen. Let me get straight to the point:

- Sharp scissors and knife! I use the scissors to cut fishing line (I typically use up to 20 lb test braid and up to 40 lb test mono leader) and the blade to open packages. As usual, remember to close it when you're done with it.
- Contrary to the picture shown, the nail filer end is actually flat. That's right, it doubles as a flathead! It has saved me many times when I needed a small flathead screwdriver and didn't have one laying around.
- Lightweight! Since there's a keychain loop, I keep this on a neck lanyard and it doesn't bother me one bit.
- The tweezers are tiny and useful for picking up small screws (I use them for reassembling my fishing reels).
- The plastic pick is useful for various things, such as trying to get sand out of the crevices of something that you wouldn't take the knife to instead.
- If properly maintained, these can last years. However, since they're so inexpensive, I've been just buying them every other year so that I can have yet another one laying around just in case (i.e. keep one in the car).
- The spring for the scissor can get knocked out of alignment, but that's an easy fix. Just be careful not to completely destroy it if you do accidentally knock it out. Like all springs, they can be permanently deformed.
More useful than you think

I bought this as a replacement for one I lost at a security checkpoint (forgot to go back and claim it). I had the other one for a couple years and it was still working perfectly.
You will not regret your decision to have one of these on your keyring. I find that I use it all the time.
KNIFE: Opening packages, cutting, etc. It goes dull, but that is probably a good thing. Its a dangerous little thing when sharp since it does not lock open. I have cut myself a few times due to having fat fingers, or abusing it for tasks that should require a much larger blade.
FLATHEAD SCREWDRIVE/FILE: I've used the "screwdriver" part on screws that I shouldn't have, and it never bent or broke. The file is useful for chipped/broken fingernails.
SCISSORS: Probably the most used of the three. Its small, but I keep finding uses for it. Especially useful for strings on clothing.

Its cheap. Its tough. It gets used more than you would think. Buy it!
Perfect EDC knife for anyone

5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazon Customer on August 30, 2017
I've owned dozens of knives over the years but recently went back to my very first knife, the Swiss Army Classic in Silver Alox. I still have the same red one I got at nine years old but don't carry it anymore to prevent losing it.

The basic functions you need in an EDC knife are here and will serve you well. The scissors are possibly the best cutting instrument available. My decades-old red model still has razor-sharp scissors in spite of being used at least a thousand times. If you have to carry only one knife this it the one you want. The Silver Alox model lacks the toothpick and tweezers but it so slim and light it's perfect for keychain carry. If you carry a larger knife, this is a perfect backup.

If there is any one item that packs so much functionality and usefulness in such a small package, it is the Victorinox Classic Swiss Army Knife.
Perfect small and sturdy pocketknife, nail file, scissor, screwdriver, and toothpick!

5.0 out of 5.0 by Gilles Family on December 28, 2015
This item is the real deal, very well made and I love the purple color. It is the perfect tool to carry in my bag, lightweight, slim and well made. Not at all like the bulky pocket knife my husband takes with him in the car. The five tools seem to perfectly address my needs. The scissor is the feature I use the most, but the nail file is definitely a close second. I particularly love that the end of the file doubles as a screwdriver! It has proved the perfect size for eyeglass repair as well as for opening those tiny screws to the battery compartments in toys and electronic items.
I carry it with me all the time - which leads me to the only negative comment I have -- I keep losing the knife to TSA at airports. It's such a part of my daily life I forget to leave it home, TSA confiscates it and I have to buy a new one. This is my third!
One of my favourite knives...

5.0 out of 5.0 by Kanchan J on December 8, 2015
My initial review was that the Swiss army knife was too small for my liking. But after using it for a few months, I feel like that is my most favourite thing about the knife. It is so compact and hides in my knife pocket in my pant. If only TSA would allow this on planes, I would have it in my key ring and with me all the time. I have used all but function of the knife. Out of all the features, I think the scissors would be irreplaceable one for me, it comes in handy Just this week, I tightened a screw which no one had the tool to do. I am not so much of a file user and couldn't care less for it.

I would highly recommend this to any one looking for a small pocket knife...
Best Pocket Knife Ever?

5.0 out of 5.0 by M. Barnes on February 3, 2016
I finally lost my old Swiss Army knife, which I had for the past 10+ years. It worked great, and lasted through just about everything I have put it through. This includes burying it in the ground at concerts and other places that would confiscate it (for days at a time in some cases). It is durable and useful all the time in everyday activities.

I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a small, key chain knife. It doesn't have near the bells and whistles as some knives ... but it comes in handy all the time and can go through a lot of punishment.
Great for a pocket, purse, or key chain

I know they say you shouldn't put anything heavy on your keyring because it can damage the car's ignition switch, but this little gem (Emerald... Gem... Hehe) is so lightweight I wouldn't even worry about it. The scissors and the knife are both very sharp, great for cutting into packaging, trimming a loose thread off your clothing, etc.

It's no multi-tool, but it's not supposed to be. For what it is, a very small always handy sharp blade, scissors, or screwdriver, it gets the job done beautifully. Along with my smart phone, this knife now goes everywhere with me. When I'm out taking photos, I toss it into my com pact first-aid kit and toss that in a side pocket of my camera bag. I certainly wouldn't take it camping as my only knife, but it fits the urban jungle beautifully.

I'm not a big knife person (Sorry, another bad pun). I don't go to knife shows and drool over the latest carbon steel or whatever's popular now. If you need a small blade for everyday life, this one's for you.

I’ve had ‘Swiss Army Knives’ for YEARS, since I was 10 in 1983 when Return of the Jedi was out. I’ve had many fat heavy ones w/ 20-30 tools/uses, Ive a ‘Florist’ one in standard red, for 21 years now, never sharpened it, yet it remains as sharp as day 1. And last/not least, the SD pocket multi tool, I’ve had for about 10 years. The 1st one I bought, in red, actually cracked a bit, (the casing) but still functions, I dropped it 1000 times. Since, I bought one in Yellow, Blue, & I bought a translucent pink one @ Target, simply because it was on clearance for $5. Everyone, male, female, over 18 should def have one on their keychain or person. I use it EVERY DAY, the lil blade, the scissors, & I actually use the nail file for straight screwdriver purposes, & the tweezers I use once in a while. The toothpick can be used for literally so many things besides picking ur teeth. Literally this item’s uses are almost endless!
Keyring design not what it used to be

2.0 out of 5.0 by Kailey Miller on April 30, 2016
I am a big fan of Victorinox and have been using swiss army knives for years. They are handy tools for zookeepers and regular folk alike. The red one I had for a long time but it became dull so I handed it down instead of getting it sharpened. I bought this green one as a replacement. I had this knife for two days before the key ring became bent out of shape and I lost the knife somewhere on the street. I bought yet another knife at the local REI and the same thing happened. I have been a loyal fan of Victorinox but I am going to need to get used to Gerber pocket knives if this simple design flaw keeps causing me to lose these knives.
Great addition to a keychain!

5.0 out of 5.0 by S. Vanhoose on June 1, 2018
Victorinox Swiss Army knives are the best! I bought full sized ones for one of my sons and my husband for Christmas, but this little bitty one was for myself recently, as I wanted to add it to my keychain. I was actually looking for something that had a small travel tweezers in it, since sometimes you get near a mirror with REALLY good natural lighting and you see things you did not see at home! The other little gadgets will come in handy, too...scissors for loose threads, nail file for hang nails, end of the file for small screws, and then the little knife—although I prefer my tiny SpyderCo knife, also on my keychain, for knife jobs. The toothpick is good too, I guess, although I can’t imagine using it on my teeth and then putting it back into the knife. Ew. The only thing you have to watch for is that the little tweezers and toothpick seem to start to edge their way out being on the end of a keychain and getting knocked around. They haven’t fell out or anything yet, but I do find myself tapping them back in a very small distance occasionally. But this is an amazing, high quality little tool that allows you to bring scissors and tweezers everywhere you go—perfect! And the clear pink is pretty cute, too! You can’t go wrong buying this brand.
