excellent for artists, 100% waterproof

dont trust the bad reviews, THIS INK IS 100% WATERPROOF, I bought it specifically to paint watercolors on top of it, right now Ive used canson, fabriano and winsor and newton paper, from 90gsm to 300gsm and it didnt bleed or smear in any of those after putting watercolors on top, I just bought a second bottle of the same black ink because now im sure this is the ink ill be using for the rest of my life
Love the ink, one thing I wish I knew

I use this ink primarily now, and I love it. However, you need to know how this works BEFORE YOU USE. It is waterproof when it dries because the ink binds to the paper. This allows it to be washable from your tool (I use a fountain pen). BUT this also means that if the ink is on the paper too thick, it may not dry and bind properly, thus making it not 100% water proof. What I do is that once I am done sketching, I take a throw away piece of paper and press it carefully into the piece to absorb the excess ink. I haven't had issues since.
Not Good for Watercolors on Top

2.0 out of 5.0 by Adam Walker Cleaveland on October 29, 2014
I'm giving this a 2 just because in my experience, it was NOT waterproof. I let it dry for over 24 hours, and then when I went to put watercolors over the top of it - it still bled.

In my book, that means it's not waterproof. You can see where the sketch of the Lamy Safari pen hits the red watercolors, it bleeds.

I also licked my finger, and ran it over text that I had written that had been dry for 24 hours, and it smudged. Other commenters here said that it did NOT smudge. I don't know what to say about that, except mine smudged.
Bold and beautiful, dries very quickly and writes smooth!

5.0 out of 5.0 by Vince Navarro on April 28, 2014
This ink is beautiful. It dries quickly, writes smoothly and still has a nice fine bold look to it.

I've purchased many of noodler's inks, in many various colors. Although black isn't anything fancy, this ink is still beautiful on paper and can be distinguished from regular roller ball pen standard black ink.

The ink dries very quickly, which for me, is very important. I'm doing mathematics and solving equations all day long. I've used other Noodler inks and of course with any ink the dry time will vary. If you're writing something in which you will be casually or specifically taking your time on for neatness or beauty, art, etc... then dry time won't necessarily matter as much as you're generally paying closer attention; however, with mathematics and other university studies like note taking etc, this ink is perfect for quick writers. This is one of the very few inks that I own that I feel confident in writing quickly and scanning my hands over the page immediately after I pick up my pen and there is absolutely no ink residue on my hands or fingers. No smudging!

Another extremely nice feature of this ink is that it doesn't bleed through the page even on the cheapest of paper. This saves me a lot of money because I can utilize both the front and the back page of cheap paper when doing my work saving me space, time, money, and the environment.

Highly Recommend!

Shake well before use or your pen will write grey.

My first ink & Love it, Yes it is Waterproof and dries extremely fast on regular paper !!
On papers like Rhodia and Clairefontaine it will never dry fully in it's current form because the paper will not absorb all of the ink because the ink is too thick and those papers seem to have some sort of coating on them.
The solution is to dilute the Noodler's ink. I sse 2 parts ink to 1 part water, This works perfect for me in Nevada where it is very dry, In a more humid state try 3 to 1.
This is my first time using this ink and I ...

This is my first time using this ink and I don't have a lot of experience with fountain pens but I used it on a hundred percent cotton paper from a rustic Ridge journal then I tore the piece off soaked it in water and I have a picture of it here it didn't run at all I was completely surprised this thing does everything it says it will if used on the correct paper I'm sure you'll get the same results very impressed with this ink :-) :-) :-) :-)
Wonderful Quick Drying Ink!

5.0 out of 5.0 by Triple Bogie on October 6, 2017
Wonderful Quick Drying Ink! I used this ink to refill my Montblanc rollerball cartridge. It was very easy to refill as you remove the rear plug cap with a plyer, use a 1 ML syringe to refill about 3/4 ML full. Ink will flow out out the tip which is normal and once you cap the read plug cap back, the ink flow will stop. My pen flows like brand new again. This ink is the fastest drying ink I ever seen. As soon as I write something and swipe my hand within a second, I don't get any smears what so ever. I was using a note tablet as my paper so other type papers may be different. The ink washes off my hands also with dish washing soap pretty quickly. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. 5 STARS
Simply a lousy ink

1.0 out of 5.0 by Donovan Smith on October 20, 2017
Yes, this ink does perform well on cheap paper. It seems to flow reasonably well even in dry pens. Its color is a nice, dark black.

Too bad it never seems to really dry even on cheap paper. It will smear with a dry hand or another sheet of paper even hours later. If you write on the back side of a sheet with this ink, some of the ink from the front side will transfer to the sheet beneath it, very much like pencil except you can’t erase it.

Don’t bother with this stuff. I poured the rest of the bottle down the sink so I’d never be tempted to try it again.
Not bad...could be worse.

I ordered this for my Pilot Metropolitan fountain pen because the cartridges I bought for it didn't have very good ink, and I read that Noodlers was a good brand. After testing it out, I think I can say that I was mostly satisfied since it still works better than my aforementioned cartridges. The ink flies nicely and doesn't feather hardly at all, even on cheap paper.

The only complaint I have is that the ink isn't quite as pigmented as I had hoped and the bottle tends to leak even when the cap is screwed on all the way. (Plus the fact that the bottle was literally fill to the brim when I opened it didn't remedy that.)

I would probably buy again, but I may try a different fountain pen ink first.
